Dr. Peter Emer
Dr. Peter Emer was born and raised in South Milwaukee. He attended St. Joseph’s College in Indiana for his undergraduate studies in biology. He played college baseball for the division II Pumas. His earned his doctorate degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago in 1980. His three children attended Kenosha Tremper High School before going on to Wisconsin colleges. Dr. Pete has been active in the Greater Kenosha Lions Club and Kiwanis Club. He’s performed countless eye exams at no charge to Kenosha’s underprivileged population.
Dr. Pete has led fourteen Lions Club eye mission trips to the Dominican Republic. For his dedication to the missions, he received the Vatican II award in 2012. He purchased the optometric business of Dr. Wayne Bartel in 1984. He celebrates his 35th year at Emer Eye Care in October 2020. Dr. Pete feels lucky because he enjoys what he does and he loves coming in to work each day. You will see that dedication when he examines you with unparalleled enthusiasm!
Dr. Ben Emer
Dr. Ben Emer graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in 2016. At ICO, Dr. Ben did rotations that specialized in vision therapy, ocular disease and contact lenses. He purchased Emer Eye Care in 2017, where he strives to continue the excellent, comprehensive patient care started by Dr. Pete over thirty years ago. Additionally, he’s on staff as an optometrist in the eye clinic at the Zablocki VA Hospital in Milwaukee, where he conducts exams on Mondays working with the very latest technology and a team of eye care professionals. He has also volunteered in the Dominican Republic for the eye clinic that his father started ten years ago. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and has traveled to Washington, D.C. and Madison, WI on numerous occasions to advocate for bills that support better patient care and access in optometry.
Dr. Ben grew up in Kenosha, WI and currently lives with his wife Andressa, their son Arthur (7yo), and daughters Olivia (5yo) and Zara (2yo). He’s an avid Packer fan, and also enjoys golf, staying active and traveling.
